TO: Representative Charles Rangel
June 8, 2006

Dear Mr. Rangel,

It was a pleasure to run into you at the Clinton Dinner at Columbia University in 2004. We were holding picket signs, because we were on strike, and you issued your verbal support to us. It was also a pleasure to run into you at the Washington airport last year. I can speak for all of us at Wheelhouse magazine when we say we applaud your overall record on labor rights, your committment to fair trade, and your desire to see ex-offenders get a chance at integrating back into society. We simply have one question: why did you cross the picket line 3 times at Columbia University when its teachers and staff were on strike? These were workers too, and you just ignored them. Was it your good friendship with the President of the University? The money he and his deans have donated to you over the years? Doesn't that fly in the face of what you say on the House Floor? Bring us back to earth, sir. Paging the real Charlie Rangel....

Sincerely,
David Michael Wolach
