|   Getting Lucky in January by Nicole Steinberg    I refuse to age, to look as lovingly worn inas a knotted, nylon rope. With cutout sides and
an exposed seam, I’ll craft spaghetti-width hips
and stealthily slimmed legs, make my chest
 seem larger—forge an architectural accessory
with subtle retro sensibility. I’ll polish papery
skin with prescription moonbeam cream, plump
 creases with a dewy-light, age-obliterating serum,
go from simple to structured and inexhaustible—
something a whole lot flashier. In the kitschy ’70s,
spandex ’80s and embellished ’90s, I made myself
comfortable in cardigans and tortoiseshell frames.
How fun to make a comeback, edgy and bold.
A defiant debut! (I worry no one will notice.)
