Getting Lucky in June by Nicole Steinberg

All cool Parisian girls are limited edition
so once they’re gone, they’re gone. They leave you
bare on top, gold-flecked and disheveled. To hell
with your friends! With plunging necklines
and terra-cotta eyes, French style is an art
installation, anti-debutante with a retro-feminine
smattering of sequins. You want to look perfect
in your Chanel shoes: a dignified, don’t-mess-with-me
leopard on a leash, sucking down a mean mojito.
I’ll spend half my salary at French Connection
and be the most cute-glam of them all—just need
décolletage and I’m set! I can fit in instantly
with priceless Mary Janes, a borrowed waist
from my boyfriend, and a hot, new head of hair.
