A kitchen with no oven
Collaboratively written by Caroline Mercurio and Kevin McLellan

The sky waits to happen:
I had followed my shadow
back to the inhabited ruin

to lay my memory of you
down beside the bulldozer
as if it were easy to cover.

"Not ready," I said, "to bury
the cakes and pies!" despite
the dirt underneath my nails.

A white form forms, we

separate ourselves apart,
and I dig
                the wide-open.
